Privacy Policy

Saboten Budou LLC, doing business as Saboten Kenjutsu ("we" or "us"), runs this website, the member portal at members.sabotenkenjutsu.com, and our dojo in Phoenix, Arizona. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

What we collect

When you book a trial class: your name, email address, phone number, and age or date of birth so we can place you in the right class. If you book for a child, we collect the child's name and age and the parent or guardian's contact details.
When you become a member: contact details, mailing address, date of birth, emergency contacts, any medical information you choose to share with your instructors, signed agreements and waivers (including the date, time, IP address and device details recorded when you sign), attendance, and rank history.
Payments: card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of what was charged and when. Gear purchases may be processed by Square.
Photos and video: we take photos and video in class. Each student has their own media permission. If you have withheld it for yourself or your child, we do not publish identifiable images of that person.
Website visits: we use Google Analytics and Google Ads, which set cookies to measure how people use this site and the member portal and which ads lead to bookings.

How we use it

To run classes, trial bookings and memberships.
To contact you about your trial, your membership, or changes to the class schedule.
To bill membership dues and send receipts.
To keep students safe, which is why we hold emergency contacts and any medical information you share.
To keep the records our agreements and the law require.
To send announcements and offers you have agreed to receive.
To improve this website and our advertising.

Text messages

Our trial class booking form has two separate, optional boxes for text messages, and you can agree to either, both or neither. If you check the class texts box, we send trial and class reminders, schedule changes and closures. If you check the offers box, we send event announcements, promotions and follow-up about joining. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time. Consent to receive text messages is not required to book a class or buy a membership. Full details are in the SMS Terms section of our Terms & Conditions.

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Text messaging opt-in data and consent are excluded from all other sharing described in this policy and are never shared with any third party.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that run parts of our business for us, and only what each one needs to do its job:

Stripe, to process membership payments.
Square, to process gear purchases.
Twilio, to deliver text messages.
Resend, to deliver email.
GoDaddy, which hosts our website and member portal.
Google, for website analytics and advertising. When you book a trial, Google may receive a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email address so we can tell which ads lead to bookings.

We may also share information when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect someone's safety.

How long we keep it

Trial bookings from people who do not go on to join are deleted after twelve months.
Signed agreements and waivers are kept permanently, including after a membership ends, because they are the record of what was agreed.
Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
If you reply STOP to our texts, we keep a record of that opt-out so your number is not texted again.

Children

Children train with us, but we collect a child's information only from their parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. A parent or guardian can review, correct or delete their child's information by contacting us.

Your choices

Update your details in the member portal, or ask us to update them.
Ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it. We will do so except for records we are required to keep, such as signed agreements and payment records.
Change which messages you receive, or your media permission, by contacting us. You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP.
Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or turn off personalized ads in your Google account settings.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encrypted connections and limiting who can see it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected people if we learn of a breach that puts their information at risk.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will let members know by email.
